Another Hospital Stay

After several failed attempts to clean out Kelsey at home, her doctor had her admitted for the third time in 15 months. With so much going on inside her, she amazes all of us with her desire to not let it stop her from doing the things she loves. It may slow her down, but never stops her.

We arrived at Primary Childrens Hospital, and our very nervous Kelsey settled in.

Placing the NG tube is the hardest thing for her, but she was so brave and made it through. The nurse that placed her IV also gave her stuffed puppy an IV, which I later found out squirts water at unsuspecting people. Needless to say, almost everyone that visited her got a little wet. :)

Thank goodness for the playroom! It is such an great distraction from all the hospital stuff! We visited as often as Kelsey was able.

Aly was a bit worried about her little sister, but showed so much compassion towards her. I know it really meant a lot. Thanks so much to everyone who visited and for the calls and text messages of love and concern. We love you!

Awards

I am so excited to announce that BOTH of my girls received their schools Superintendant's Award for maintaining or exceeding a 3.75 GPA for the whole year! Kelsey received hers at an assembly, and Aly got her award on the last day, therefore, no photo. That is a fantastic accomplishment, and Steve and I are SO proud of them!

End of Year Recital

Aly performed another beautiful recital. She really loves to dance and is becoming quite the dancer! I am so proud of her dedication and desire to be the best she can be. Way to go Al!

Free Entertainment!

This is usually the site in our field at least a dozen times a day. I love watching our goats, as do all the neighbors. They all jump on to their house and buck each other off. It's hilarious! They're a multi-purpose kind of animal really - great weed mowers and endless entertainment.

Softball Season

This years softball season came and went really fast! I didn't take many pictures, but Kelsey's games were so much fun to watch. Considering her health, I'm surprised she played at all, but she loves the game, and hasn't let anything get in her way. Way to go Kelsey!

Homemade Waterslide

The sun was shining and the girls were bored, SO, they decided to make a water slide out of two big plastic bags that they cut and taped together. I guess when desperate times call for desperate measures, their creativity surprises me! I was impressed with their "hillbilly water slide" and it entertained them for quite a while.

Pure Purple Perfection

We found out about 3 weeks ago that Kelsey's little body is not functioning well again. While on our last trip to Moab, we were with a friend of ours, MaryAnn (who sometimes cuts Kelsey's hair). MaryAnn always has something wild and fun going on with her hair. This time is was purple streaks in the long pieces of her A-Line haircut. Kelsey admired her hair for a long time before asking me if SHE could have purple in her hair. So, knowing that we were going to have to be staying home over the next weekend or two to follow her doctors orders, I made a deal with her. I told Kels that if she did everything she was supposed to do and took all the meds without complaining, I would let her get her purple. So, right after school last Monday afternoon, we went to the salon. Kelsey was so funny about it - she told MaryAnn that she didn't want to see in the mirror until it was completely dried and styled. After what she went through last weekend, the smile on her face when she saw her hair was worth it!

Life is just too short to worry about what others may think - especially of pretty hair with a FlAiR!
